Learn more!
The children will be taking home a reading book. Please read with your children daily at home and write a comment in their reading journals to let us know how they got on. Library books will be changed weekly, every Monday afternoon.
Every child is part of a reading challenge that gives out bronze, silver and gold awards for reading up to 100 books.
Let's work together to help your children reach this goal!

PE
We do PE on a Wednesday. Children need to come to school wearing their PE kit. For PE, we wear a yellow tee shirt, green shorts and black pumps. Earrings should be removed (before school if children are unable to remove them by themselves), for health and safety reasons.
Topics
Our topics help us learn new skills and facts about the world. Our topic sessions take place during the afternoon. We do link our topic work with our English learning through stories, poems and drama. Where possible, we go on educational visits or invite visitors in, so that we develop our learning and understanding more.
These are our topics for this year:
Autumn 1 | Autumn 2 | Spring 1 | Spring 2 | Summer 1 | Summer 2 |
Marvellous Me! | Let's Celebrate! | Once Upon a Time... | In the garden... | Ticket to ride! | Under the Sea! |
Phonics
These are the sounds we have been learning in Phonics so far:
We have had a great time in Reception using different construction materials to create different buildings. Well done everyone!
We have used lots of different media to create some beautiful works of Art! They look lovely displayed in our Home Corner and around the classroom!
We have enjoyed developing our fine motor skills to help us with pencil control and pencil grip! We have particularly enjoyed using the tweezers to sort the different objects to the correct monster from our story 'The Colour Monster Goes to School.' Fabulous work everyone!
We have enjoyed cooking our dinner from the shop and having tea parties in the home corner!
We have really enjoyed using the felt tip pens, chunky crayons and loose parts to help us mark make and copy patterns.
One station in the classroom we absolutely love is messy play! We have had a great time using our senses to mark make and explore. We can't wait to see what else we get up to during messy play time!
We have a great time in our outdoor learning area helping our muscles to grow and practising our climbing and balancing. We particularly love going on the trim trail at break and lunch times! We have also really enjoyed playing parachute games as part of our PE work! Well done everyone!
We love sharing our favourite books with one another! We also like choosing books from the library to share with our families at home!
