Christmas

We had lots of fun celebrating Christmas in Year 2 Hazel. We worked together to decorate our tree and enjoyed learning about the Nativity story as we put up our own Nativity scene in our classroom. Below, you can see some examples of the calendars that we made about the four seasons and the Christmas cards we created for our families.  We also had a visit from one of Santa's elves, however he was rather cheeky! Every time we came into the classroom in the morning he was in a different place and up to no good! Luckily, we managed to show him the right way to behave. We also had a visit from another special person...see if you can spot them below...

We have been learning all about the festival of Christmas, why it is celebrated and how it is celebrated. We evaluated existing Christmas stockings, looking at the designs and colours found on these. We then used this to help us come up with a criterion for our own stocking designs. We then designed our own Christmas stockings and developed our sewing skills to join materials and create our stockings. We then evaluated our stocking designs against our criteria:

  • Is my stocking bright and attractive?
  •  Is it Christmas colours?
  • Does it have a Christmas design on it?
  • Does my stocking hold objects without breaking?
