'A River' Week

We read this wonderful book by Marc Martin, and used it as a stimulus for our learning. We had a lovely week.

We looked at the pictures of the little girl gazing out of her window and imagined where the river would take us.

Here are some of our ideas...

The river meanders through busy cities and dark, gloomy industrial areas...

We learnt about the artist L.S. Lowry who was famous for his paintings of northern towns and cities.

We sketched our own versions of some of his pictures...

After leaving the dark, gloomy city, the river flows into the more colourful countryside...

Our artist for the countryside was David Hockney, and we painted some very colourful pictures...
