On Wednesday 13th February, Year 3 Poplar and Year 3 Rowan had a special visitor come to see us at school. We had a visit from a gladiatrix from Roman times. We enjoyed listening to her talk about Roman soldiers and the clothes they wore. We carried out different activities throughout the day, such as writing our names using the Roman alphabet, playing the Roman game of Ludus latrunculorum, creating Roman clay votives and practising our hunting skills using spears and nets. We all really enjoyed our day and it was a great end to our topic! We learnt so many new things too! We ended the day with the retelling of a Roman myth and were able to share our learning on the Romans with both Year 1 classes.
